Just picked up a tablet computer. Very exciting, as it will make it much easier for me to shoot and edit short videos for The Ruminant. Below is my first stab at it. I've had a lot of beans to shell for a contract I have with Stellar Seeds, including about ten pounds of Edamame beans. They're kind of finicky, and this is a quick way to deal with them if you don't have proper equipment. The video doesn't include anything on cleaning the seeds of the leftover chaff. When I do that I'll repost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmTfHqCYm2A&feature=plcp
Pretty rudimentary, but it was pretty quick.
Submissions have dried up! Don't forget that I'd love to receive photos or YouTube links of your farming and gardening techniques. I'll post them here! You'll be so famous!
Ok. New publishing approach: I have begun producing an email newsletter for my regular readers. It will contain The Ruminant’s recent posts and podcast episodes which I plant to produce on a regular basis after a successful trial last spring. Subscribe if you like this site but don’t find yourself getting here without regular reminders that The Ruminant exists.
I will not abuse your inbox. There will be no more than two emails a month. And unsubscribing is very easy, should you decide to say “Hey Ruminant, we’re throughminant.” Subscribe to our newsletter, if you dare. Thanks.
...and here's the video of Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds applying the same concept with a much better setup. Thanks to Graeme for sharing. Cut to 1:30.
