Heather Stretch is a friend and colleague of mine on Vancouver Island. She owns Northbrook Farm and co-owns Saanich Organics, a co-operatively structured organic veggie distrubutor for the Victoria region. She is also co-author, with Rachel Fisher and Robin Tunnicliffe, of All the Dirt: Reflections on Organic Farming, which is a pretty darn good primer for aspiring farmers.
This episode features part one of my conversation with Heather, and covers her thoughts on hosting (and finding) a good farming apprenticeship, and considerations for establishing your own farm.
